Position Overview:
Kontak Recruitment is currently recruiting and hiring for a Senior Server and Systems Engineer vacancy based in Durban to work closely with the Head of Infrastructure and intermediate Team. Senior Server and Systems Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the current environment and optimisation. Will work closely with staff and students on a daily basis helping to manage access to various learning and content management systems. The Server and Systems Engineer is a key member of the team ensuring that our extensive individualized learning programme runs smoothly.
 
Qualifications :
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification (MCSE) or equivalent Microsoft certification
2-3 years’ experience on Microsoft Office 365 and Azure implementation and support
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Microsoft system support and maintenance role
IT Network knowledge (Preferred)
5years’ experience on, Microsoft Active Directory servers and Microsoft Hyper V environments
Practical experience within a 3-tier environment
Storage Systems and backup 3Par/EMC (Preferred)
 
Job output:
The design, setup and maintenance of Server hardware.
Maintenance, repairs and upgrades on server hardware.
Problem solving of server related network and hardware problems.
Installation and upgrading of the enterprise Microsoft software on the servers.
Systems configuration management.
Responsible for Microsoft patch releases.
The design, setup and maintenance of the Microsoft Windows Server operating system.
Preventative maintenance, repairs, upgrades and patch deployments on Microsoft Windows Servers.
Managing and testing of changes.
Security: Setting up / controlling up to the operating system level. Implements and maintaining security policy standards.
Setup and Maintenance and review of Active directory structure.
Responsible for daily backup procedures on Microsoft environments.
Review and maintain the Disaster recovery for the Microsoft environments.
Liaison with customers on calls that are channelled through the helpdesk
Administration, support and maintenance of Hyper V hypervisor
Administration, support and maintenance of Microsoft Office 365 and Azure workload
