Kontak Recruitment is currently sourcing and recruiting for a Financial Accountant vacancy based in Westville, Durban. The Financial Accountant will prepare the management accounts and make recommendations to the Financial Manager.

Degree with articles.
2-3 years’ relevant experience in accounting environment.
Sage 300 exposure.
Advanced Excel knowledge.
Africa exposure
 
Supports financial decision-making information by collecting, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data.
To ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the various people and processes within the finance department.
Provide staff supervision and training.
Preparation and processing of monthly journal entries and management accounts.
Enforcing and implementation of policies and procedure.
Staff Supervision
Provides leadership and direction to the Creditors /Bookkeepers / Cashbook.
Meets weekly with staff to provide regular feedback on individual performance.
Provides role clarity to staff and makes recommendations to the Financial Manager for tools to facilitate performance.
Makes recommendations to Financial Manager on staff training and development plans.
Acts as a Coach and Mentor to staff.
Monthly Reconciliations, Journal processing and Reporting on Management Accounts       
Prepares and processes monthly revenue and debtors’ journal entries.
Prepares and processes monthly salaries and wages journal entries.
Prepares and processes month end journals, including deferred revenue and depreciation adjustments. 
Prepares other monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
Reviews and authorizes creditor reconciliations and payment requisitions on an ad-hoc basis.
Maintains month end file with all relevant reconciliations and supporting documents.
Completes all fixed asset transactions, including verifications, recording and updating of GL and FAR.
Reviews Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis.
Completes all inventory transactions, including annual stock-counts, recording and updating of GL and stock-ledgers.
Budgeting, Monitoring and Control
Prepares information for year-end audit purposes.
Prepares financials annually.
Prepares budgets and forecasts.
Oversees the functioning of the Bookkeeping function including review and authorisation of all reconciliations, schedules, invoices, journals etc prepared by the Bookkeeper.
Ensures finance policies and procedures are adhered to by all individuals within finance and outside of finance.
Provides ideas and feedback to help improve efficiencies in processes and procedures.
Attends to ad-hoc requests and providing assistance in other areas which may not be directly part of job description above.
Stands in for the Financial Manager when required to.
Processes Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis.
